Woman cadre maoist gunned down near Odisha-Chhattisgarh border

Malkangiri,May 31: A woman cadre maoist was gunned down near Odisha Chhattisgarh border on Monday during an exchange of fire with security forces. Based on reliable intelligence input, Chhattisgarh Police and Paramilitary forces  launched a joint operation along with BSF and SOG jawans under Gidam police limits in Dantewada district. The extremists opened fire at the security forces, following which the jawans retaliated. After the firing ceased the area was searched and a body of a woman cadre mao-leader was recovered from the spot. The deceased has been identified as YK Pokko who was leading Platoon No.16 of PLGA. Pokko sustained bullet injuries in the gunfight and died at the spot. A huge cache of guns, live bullets and Maoist articles were recovered from the spot by the security forces. Notably, a cash award worth Rs two lakh was declared on Pokko’s head by Chhatisgarh home department.
