A powerful 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck Pakistan on Wednesday afternoon, sending tremors that rippled across a vast region, including northern India and Afghanistan. The earthquake's epicentre was located 10 kilometres deep, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences.
People in major cities across the affected areas reported feeling the tremors, with social media buzzing with accounts of shaking buildings, swaying ceiling fans, and rattling objects. Residents in Peshawar, Islamabad, and Lahore in Pakistan, as well as Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu, and Kashmir in India, shared their experiences online.
This is the second time in just two weeks that Delhi and its surrounding regions have experienced earthquake tremors. The previous incident occurred on August 29 when a 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan.
While no major damage or casualties have been reported so far, the recurring seismic activity serves as a reminder of the region's vulnerability to earthquakes. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and residents are urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
