Bhubaneswar, Nov, 18: From Kamakshyanagar, Minister of Mines, Steel and Works Prafulla Mallik is said to be the only candidate of BJD. If Prafulla is a candidate from BJD, there is a lot of talk about who will fight against him from BJP.
The first taste of victory for the BJP in Odisha was the Kamakshyanagar assembly seat. In 1985, Prasanna Patnaik was elected to the Legislative Assembly from Kamakshyanagar as a BJP candidate. After him, however, no BJP candidate has been able to win from the Kamakshyanagar seat. Prasanna Patnaik who contested from this seat in 2014 had secured only 25 thousand votes.
In 2019 BJP had imported a candidate from Congress- Satrughan Jena . He gave a good fight to BJD nominee Prafulla Mallik in the last election. Now Satrughan Jena is also a front-runner in the BJP. Satrughan was three times chairman of Bhuban Block. Previously had also performed well as a Congress nominee, independent candidate and secured good numbers of votes. He got the ticket last time on that basis from BJP.
Now, Debadatta Pattnaik, another BJP leader is also working hard . Many BJP aspirants have raised their heads to fight in 2024 from the Kamakshyanagar seat.
. On the other hand, the vote share of Congress in Kamakshyanagar is decreasing. It is said that the Congress may change its strategy and give a fight this time.
