Kolkata, August 19: The Calcutta High Court on Thursday ordered a court-monitored Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into West Begal post-poll violence case. The High Court also ordered to set up Special Investigation Teams (SIT) for investigation and senior officers from West Bengal cadre to be part of the teams. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has welcomed the High Court’s decision. “We welcome the court's decision. In a democracy, everyone has the right to spread their ideology but no one's allowed to spread violence. There is no place for violence in democracy,” said Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Calcutta HC’s order for court-monitored CBI probe into post-poll violence. Post-poll violence in West Bengal took place under the protection of the state government. The order by the Calcutta High Court has exposed the government. We welcome the court order, said BJP General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya. However, All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) has expressed displeasure over the Court order. “I'm unhappy with verdict. If in every law & order matter which is entirely within state government's jurisdiction the CBI comes in it is transgression on state's right. I'm sure state government will judge the situation & take a decision to appeal to a higher court if necessary,” said TMC leader Saugata Roy.
