Puri, April 11: Pinki, a transgender of Puri who once upon a time was an unemployed one to depend upon others has now got a job. She has been appointed as a housekeeping staffer at Puri Jagannath Medical College on Monday. Sources said Pinki was a burden to her family at the same time she was being humiliated for her gender inequality since her childhood. Most of the time, she had to spend days and nights in hunger as she had no sources of income. Despite her physical anomaly and social hindrances, she was searching for a job, for a normal living. Meanwhile, she has been offered a housekeeping job, which she joined today, hoping for a better tomorrow. After getting the appointment letter from the Medical College authorities, Pinki set out on her journey as a housekeeper, bloomed floors of the building and its compounds in order to see her place clean and tidy. Responding to media personnel Pinki said, no work is small. A job if performed with contentment with proper dedication, will give eternal peace. “I am delighted with my nature of duty. I can serve people and the society by keeping the medical campus clean and healthy along with serving myself, that is earning my own bread”, Pinki added.
