Chandigarh, Feb 20: After weeks of high voltage poll campaigning in Punjab the single-phase assembly polls in the state has begun on Sunday.
Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, contesting from Chamkaur Sahib and Bhadaur constituencies said that his government has made all efforts to do the most in the short span of time he got and rest is the will of the people.
“The leadership was of the party during the campaign, it’ll now be the will of the almighty and people, we’ve made all efforts.” The Chief Minister said while speaking to the media.
Meanwhile, Punjab is witnessing a multi-corner contest this time with Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Shiromani Akali Dal-Bahujan Samaj Party alliance, and the coalition of Bharatiya Janata Party-former chief minister Amarinder Singh’s Punjab Lok Congress party as key players.
Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, who is the Congress’s chief ministerial face, is contesting from two seats Chamkaur Sahib and Bhadaur. Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu is facing SAD’s Bikram Singh Majithia, AAP’s Jeevanjyot Kaur and BJP’s Jagmohan Singh Raju in Amritsar (East).
Notably, over 214 crore voters of Poll Bound Punjab will decide the fate of 1304 candidates in the fray from 117 constituencies of the state on Sunday.
