Vigilance traces properties worth Rs Rs 4.93 crore of Hindi teacher in Odisha

Berhampur, Oct 14: Vigilance sleuths have traced properties worth Rs 4.93 crore of Bhubanananda Sahu, Hindi teacher Jashoda High School in Rangeilunda Block in Ganjam district. Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday have conducted raids at five locations including the office of Sahu on allegation of acquisition of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income. Sahu was found in possession of assets worth Rs 4.93 crore crore including a five stories building worth Rs 1.86 crore in Berhampur, one triple stories building at Berhampur having a cost of Rs 1.12 crore, one apartment in Bhubaneswar worth Rs 28 lakh, 10 plots near Berhampur worth Rs 38.48 lakh and LIC deposits worth Rs 20.74 lakh. Vigilance sleuths said that the search process is still continuing. “The simultaneous searches were conducted on the basis of a court warrant and further investigation in the case is continuing. We are ascertaining the actual income of the officials,” said a vigilance official. He also said that the income of the official would be calculated to ascertain the gap between the cost of assets and actual income.
