Vigilance traces properties worth Rs 2.45 crore of lecturer in Odisha

Bhawanipatna, July 20: Vigilance sleuths have traced properties worth Rs 2.45 crore of Surya Narayan Ray, Lecturer in Govt. Polytechnic School, Bhawanipatna. Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday have conducted raids at five places including the residence of MRay on allegations of acquisition of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income. Ray was found in possession of assets worth Rs 2.45 crore including three two-storied buildings, eight plots in Jharsuguda, one four-wheeler, bank and postal deposits worth over Rs 30 lakh and insurance deposits worth over 41 lakh. Vigilance sleuths said that the search process is still continuing. “The simultaneous searches were conducted on the basis of a court warrant and further investigation in the case is continuing. We are ascertaining the actual income of the officials,” said a vigilance official. He also said that the income of the official would be calculated to ascertain the gap between the cost of assets and actual income.
