Bhubaneswar, July 20: Veteran Odia film personality Bijay Mohanty passed away this night while undergoing treatment here at a private hospital. He was 70. He was shifted to Odisha in a special ambulance with a team of medical experts amid lockdown last month from Hyderabad. Mohanty, a product of National School of Drama, is not only a household name in Odisha for acting in hundreds of Odia movies and tele-serials but was also the principal of the state run Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya. Lakhs of Odia cine lovers got shocked when news broke out on May 26 that veteran Odia actor Bijay Kumar Mohanty was in critical condition at a private hospital in Hyderabad after complaining of chest pain. The 70-year-old actor was put on ventilator support. Later, Mohanty was brought to Odisha on June 14 in a special ambulance bus from Hyderabad as he wished to come back to his home state. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar since then.
