Utkal University to develop six Centres of Excellence at cost of Rs 100 crore

Bhubaneswar: Maintaining that teaching and learning is an ongoing and evolving process and Utkal University has always taken the lead of fulfilling the State’s educational aspirations by achieving academic excellence, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said that the State Government has sanctioned Rs 100 crore to the university for opening of six Centres of Excellence.

“The Government of Odisha has sanctioned Rs 100 crore to Utkal University for opening six Centres of Excellence.  The University has already received Rs 40 crore in the current academic year.  Besides, funds have also been provided for the infrastructure development of the university,” said Patnaik while addressing platinum jubilee celebrations of the university here.

The university has organised a five-day event starting today marking the culmination of the platinum jubilee celebrations.

“Teachers and students are the principal players in an institution like this.  Teaching-Learning is an ongoing and evolving process.  Management, infrastructure, learning resources and even curriculum are facilitating factors.  The outcome of this entire exercise is quality human resource,” said Patnaik.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated the Central Instrumentation Centre and Digital Library Building of the university. He also laid the foundation stone for the boundary wall project.

Among others, Higher Education Minister Dr Arun Kumar Sahoo, Odisha Skill Development Authority Chairman Subrato Bagchi, university Vice-Chancellor Prof Soumendra Mohan Patnaik, Registrar Dayanidhi Nayak, Bhubaneswar North MLA Susant Rout and PG Council Chairman Sabita Acharya were present.
