Bhubaneswar, March 25: The ruling BJD has strategically chosen Satyabadi MLA Umakant Samantray, populalarly known as Uma Samantray as their candidate for the upcoming election for the Brahmagiri assembly seat. Samantary recently kicked off his political campaign in this crucial constituency.

Samantray commenced his campaign with a spirited procession starting from Girala and culminating at the revered Alaranath temple. Seeking blessings from Lord Alaranath, he then proceeded towards Satapada, leading a rally with thousands of party supporters. Notable attendees included Zilla Parishad chairman Swapnarani Swain, block chairman Ratnamani Behera, vice-chairman Malini Dalai, and other BJD leaders.

Samantray revealed that he received a direct mandate from BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik to contest the election as the party candidate from the Brahmagiri assembly constituency. He expressed hope that the people of Brahmagiri would support him and bless his victory by a significant margin.

Brahmagiri has witnessed longstanding political battles between the BJD and Congress. However, in 2019, the dynamics shifted as the fight intensified between the BJD and BJP. BJP’s Lalitendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra narrowly defeated BJD candidate Sanjay Das Burma during that election.

In the upcoming election, Sanjay Das Burma will contest as the BJD candidate from the Satyabadi assembly seat, while the incumbent BJD Satyabadi MLA, Uma Samantray, will now vie for victory in the Brahmagiri assembly constituency. This decision was made by the party high command. Uma Samantary remains optimistic about securing a win in Brahmagiri.

The political tides are shifting, and all eyes are on the unfolding drama in this crucial assembly segment. Let’s see how the electoral battle unfolds in Brahmagiri.
