Today’s project is a pilot one to showcase the success of segregated waste collection in the city under the banner of Mu Safaiwala Abhiyan.’’ As of today, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has 18 numbers of functional MCC and two numbers of MRF in the city out of a total of 43 planned MCC and 10 MRF. The MCCs and MRF inaugurated today will run in collaboration with project partner namely Godrej Properties Limited (GPL) for its implementation. Feedback Foundation Charitable Trust (FFCT) will provide technical support. On pilot basis such step has been taken to introduce and replicate success in other areas. The pilot project will involve waste collection, segregation, processing and treatment. This is the pilot project where more than 90 percent of waste will be treated at MCC Sundarpada and only 10 percent will be sent to the landfill site. The overall aim of the pilot project is to make the entire project financially viable where the operating cost will be met by circular economy.
