Nabarangpur, Sept 6: Two media persons of a web channel have been arrested on allegations of having attempted to extort from a school headmaster in Nabarangpur district. One more journalist is still absconding. The accused persons have been identified as Jitendra Das, Shankar Prasad Turuk, and Nigam Sahu. They demanded to see the paperwork of the school and threatened to publish a news item against the school headmaster and the school. They demanded him to pay Rs 50,000 for not publishing the news item. With no other options left, the headmaster first transferred Rs 30,000 to Jitendra, while Nigam received Rs 5,000 in cash from him. They threatened him to pay the rest amount and also hurled abuses at him. Later, the headmaster lodged a complaint against the three at Umerkote Police Station.
