Two current CMs, five former CMs lose assembly polls

New Delhi, March 10: While the BJP swept four states including Uttar Pradesh and APP registered a landslide victory in Punjab assembly polls, these elections have also seen two current and five former chief ministers biting the dust. The two chief ministers who lost the polls are Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Five former chief ministers also faced defeat. Former Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Singh Rawat and former Punjab chief ministers Parkash Singh Badal and Amarinder Singh lost their seats. In Punjab, three former chief ministers -Badal, Singh and Rajinder Kaur Bhattal- have lost the election. In Goa, former chief minister Churchill Alemao lost the election. The counting of votes for all the five states-Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur Assembly polls was held on Thursday.
