TPCODL introduces innovative solution to provide reliable power supply

Bhubaneswar, April 1: As a major step towards providing reliable power supply to consumers, TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has introduced mobile compact substation in its licensed area of operation. Dibya Shankar Mishra, Minister of Energy inaugurated the mobile sub-station today in presence of M. Shenbagam, Chief Executive Officer, TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited. The mobile compact substation includes a distribution transformer, low voltage switchgear, metering equipment, surge protection and cable connecting arrangement mounted on a mobile trolley. The mobile compact substation is a plug in type substation and require only 1 – 1.5 hours for putting into service apart from the travel time. It is used temporarily to minimize power supply outage to customers during conditions such as failure of existing transformer for various reasons during summer. TPCODL has procured 8 mobile substations for quick power restoration during exigencies in urban and peri-urban areas. On the inauguration, Mishra said, "Ensuring uninterrupted power supply to the people of Odisha is the primary goal. I congratulate TPCODL team on this initiatives which will work towards providing reliable power supply.” "This is our step towards addressing the challenges the summer brings in with additional loads. This solution will ensure we are able to respond to Transformer failures within a couple of hours ensuring reliable supply. We will continue to work to bring in Innovative solutions to improve reliable services to customers.” said M. Shenbagam, Chief Executive Officer, TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited.
