Kolkata, May 2: The All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) today demanded immediate recounting of votes of Nandigram constituency. BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari has won Nandigram seat in a nail-biting contest against TMC's Mamata Banerjee. Earlier reports suggested Mamata of winning the seat by a slim margin of 1200 votes. However, confusion prevailed after Adhikari won the constituency by more than 1900 votes. TMC in a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer alleged tampering and mismanagement of votes. The party claimed that counting process was stalled several times and has not been reported by the Election Commission. Besides the party also alleged that valid votes of Mamata were wrongfully rejected and false votes were counted in favour of BJP. The TMC further alleged that Mamata had sought for a recounting of votes before the Returning Officer but recounting was refused for unknown reasons.
