Three superintendents of GST & Central Excise arrested for taking Rs 10 lakh bribe in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Dec 29: The central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today arrested three Superintendents of GST & Central Excise, Bhubaneswar Circle, Audit Commissionerate, Bhubaneswar on charges of accepting bribe of Rs 10 lakh. The accused have been identified as Artabhanjan Kar, Pradip Kumar Acharya and N.N. Sahoo while another person Ashutosh Padhy working as account officer of Centurion Institute of Technologywas also nabbed while exchanging of Rs10 lakh between them in a city based hotel in an alleged matter of GST & Central Excise agains Centurion Institute of Technology. “On the basis of source information a trap was today against said A.B. Kar, Superintendent and Ashutosh Padhy. The Superintendents of GST & Central Excise visited Hotel New Marrion, Bhubaneswar to receive the alleged bribe amount from Padhy and all were arrested while exchanging the bribe amount. The process of house search of all three officials is in progress,” said a CBI official.
