Three families fined Rs 20,000 for violating Covid-19 norms during marriage in Koraput

Jeypore, May 21: Three families of Jeypore town were slapped fine of Rs 20,000 collectively for conducting marriage function flouting the Covid-19 guidelines issued by the State government keeping in view of the rising Covid-19 cases in the state. After receiving information about large gathering at some marriage functions, a team led by Jeypore Town PS IIC conducted raid on 3 marriage functions at Sambartota Sahi, Kumbar Sahi, Mandia Bhata street and found violation of Covid-19 norms. It was observed that feasts were arranged for large number of people, some of them were seen not maintaining proper social distance and more than 25 guests were present in the functions which is a clear violation of the Covid-19 norms, said an official. The families responsible for organising the functions were slapped fines totalling to Rs 20,000, he added.
