Three blocks in Jajpur affected for flood in Baitarani

Jajpur, May 28: Hundreds of people of three blocks of Jajpur, Dasarathpur, and Korei in the district have remained marooned due to flood in Baitarani river and its tributaries. An embankment of the Kani River which is a distributary of the Baitarani river in Dasarathpur block has been breached near Duduranta. As a result of which, more than 30 panchayats have been affected while some of those are completely submerged. District administration officials said that people in the low-lying areas have been evacuated. “We have ensured shelter and food for them. We are also trying to repair the embankments,” said an official. The level of RBaitarani at Akhuapada continued to the above the danger level. The level of the river was 17.84 mtr against danger level of 17.83 mtr at 9PM today.
