Ganjam, Feb 8: Odisha Vigilance officials on Thursday apprehended a Data Entry Operator (DEO) while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000.
The accused has been identified as Gourahari Padhy who is associated with the Chhatrapur RTO Office in Ganjam district.
According to the Vigilance directorate, Padhy was caught red-handed while he was taking a bribe from a complainant for updating of tax in respect of his two vehicles towards exemption of fine amount during the Covid-19 period.
During the raid, the entire bribe money was recovered from the accused and seized.
Following the trap, a house search in this connection, was initiated at one location to unearth the disproportionate assets angle.
