Bhubaneswar, Nov 5: Swaraj Mishra’s Odia film ‘Rasagola’ has bagged the best documentary film award for the year 2019. The Jury appointed for the 31st State Film Award announced it on Friday. Carrying forward the essence of the typical Odia sweets Rasagola, Mishra chalked out his best to hand down Rasagola from the rural suburb to the Shree Jagannath Temple as an indispensable Odia recipe. The storyline of the Rasagola has been adapted from ‘Babuna’, a story published in the bibliography of Ama Odisha. {"id":146362,"sizeSlug":"full","linkDestination":"none"} Babuna, in the film, is a poverty-stricken boy of Puri suburb who is having a passionate thirst for a Rasagola, but his penury does not permit it all. However, he replicates it, the way which a rich boy eats up a rasagola. At the same time, he sublimates it swallowing a handful of Pakhala, one of the most ancient Odia recipe. {"id":146361,"sizeSlug":"full","linkDestination":"none"} At the same time, the film has screen-played the Niladri Bije and Mahalaxmi Manabhanjan episodes which laud the age-old customs of the Rasagola with Indian epics and especially with the Shree Jagannath cult.
