Sunapur beach in Odisha’s Ganjam district accolades ‘Blue Flag certification’

 Bhubaneswar, Jan 30: The sunapur beach in Odisha’s Ganjam district has been honoured with the esteemed International Blue Flag certification by the Foundation for Environment Education. This recognition marks Sunapur Beach as the second beach in Odisha to achieve this certification, following Puri Beach, which received the award in 2020.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik informed on his ‘X’ handle that the Sunapur beach is Odisha’s Ganjam district has received the Blue Falg certification from Copenhagen-based Foundation for Environmental Education. The award will further boost the State tourism, Patnaik hoped.

“Glad to share that #Sunapur Beach in #Ganjam, one of the picturesque beaches of #Odisha has received the prestigious #BlueFlag certification from @FEEInt. This globally recognised eco-label, by ensuring stringent environmental standards, cleanliness, and tourist-friendly amenities will further boost tourism,” CM Patnaik posted on ‘X’.

The renowned 'Blue Flag' stands as one of the globe's most universally recognized voluntary accolades for beaches, marinas, and sustainable tourism vessels. To earn the esteemed 'Blue Flag,' sites must adhere to rigorous standards in environmental, educational, safety, and accessibility criteria, which they must continuously meet and uphold.
