Balasore, Sept 17: Subarnarekha River crossed the danger mark near Rajghat in Balasore district on Friday.
The water of the river touched the mark of 10.41 metre against the danger level of 10.36 metre.
As per reports, the authorities of Galudiha barrage released 6100 cusec water from the reservoir.
As a result, 40 villages under Bhograi block and 30 villages in Baliapal block situated in low-lying areas have been affected by the excess water.
Notably, Hirakud Dam authorities also have opened 28 sluice gates.
Currently, around 4,87,203 cusec of water is entering the reservoir and the same amount of water is being released through the 28 sluice gates.
The water retaining capacity of the reservoir is 630 feet, and the present water level in the dam stands at 628.83 ft.
After the release of the floodwater from Hirakud Dam, around 10 villages in three panchayats– Orabarasingh, Brajamohanpur and Narangarh- under Khordha block are reportedly surrounded by water.
