State Weightlifting Championship to begin from Saturday

Bhubaneswar, Dec 9: State Weightlifting Championship is being organised by the Odisha Weightlifting Association in support with the Sports and Youth Services Department at Biju Patnaik Weightlifting Hall in Kalinga Stadium on December 11 and 12. As many as 160 weightlifters including cadets of Weightlifting High-Performance Centre of Kalinga Stadium and 40 technical officers from different districts of the state will participate in the event . “Utmost care is being taken to ensure strict compliance to the Covid-19 protocol. It will be ensured that all weightlifters, technical officers and officials involved in the arrangements step with their RTPCR test negative reports. Arrangements concerning accommodation, catering and transport have been made,” said an official. The successful weightlifters from this competition will earn eligibility for their participation in the upcoming national weightlifting championship, which is scheduled to be hosted at KIIT University in January 2022 jointly by the Indian Weightlifting Federation, Odisha Weightlifting Association, KIIT University and the government of Odisha.
