Recalling their previous collaboration in the 1998 film Dil Se, Khan humorously revealed that he had "requested and begged" Ratnam for a new project. In his attempt to convince the filmmaker, Khan even offered to dance to the iconic song "Chaiyya Chaiyya" on top of a plane if Ratnam agreed. The event featured a lighthearted exchange between the two, with Ratnam responding with wit to Khan's proposal.
At the event, Shah Rukh Khan playfully pleaded with Mani Ratnam to collaborate on a new film, stating, "I'm requesting you, I'm begging you, and I'm telling you every time to do a film with me." When asked about the possibility of another collaboration, Mani Ratnam responded in jest, saying he would consider it "when he (Shah Rukh) buys a plane."
