Spike in Covid cases: Khorda district declared ‘red zone’

Khordha, Oct 13: Following the sudden spike in Covid-19 cases, Khordha district has been declared as ‘red zone’, said an official on Wednesday. Chief of Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET) CBK Mohanty said Khordha district has been declared red zone, keeping in mind the sudden spike in the positivity rate of COVID cases in the capital city Bhubaneswar. According to sources, the gathering at marketplaces in Cuttack and Khordha districts has considerably increased in this festive season, due to which the spike in the positive cases has been witnessed. Mohanty said that the average positive cases in the district have increased from around 400 to 600. He also adviced the public to stay at home as much as possible and follow COVID 19 guidelines properly. Notably, a total of 10,33,288 people in Odisha have been affected by the virus, out of which, 5203 are active cases and 10,19,764 people have been cured.
