Nyon (Switzerland), Aug 27: Unlike Lionel Messi, he has not yet won the FIFA World Cup for his country despite a few attempts. But that does not make him a less potential force or an inferior soccer icon.
In Champions League he has been magical. In order to honour his credentials and legacy in the Champions League, the UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) on Tuesday announced that president Aleksander Ceferin is all set to award Cristiano Ronaldo a special award for being the all-time leading goal scorer in the history of Champions League.
As per the announcement, Ronaldo will be awarded on August 29, when UEFA will hold the 36-team group stage draw.
Worth mentioning that it is for the first time in history, UEFA will hand a special award to the player with the most goals ever scored in the Champions League. The award immortalises Ronaldo's achievement and also signals that it will take decades for anyone to break Ronaldo's record in the Champions League.
