Special squad for Jails to vigil illegal activities

Bhubaneswar, May 16: A special squad has been formed to vigil the illegal activities inside jails in Odisha. The Home Department has formed it in order to have a close watch on the prisoner’s activities especially using narcotics and mobile phones inside the jail. As per the Director General of Odisha Prison, the squad will undertake surprise raid in the jails in order to bust the prisoners and handful of jail employees those incite use of cell phones and use of narcotic goods by the prisoners. At the same time, DG prison has permitted the jail superintendents and jailors to use cell phones during duty hour. While, use of mobile phone is totally banned for the subordinate staffs, said an official of Prison Department. Notably, dozens of mobiles and other illegal commodities were seized from the possession of prisoners in several jails in the state recently.
