Special ritual on dishes: 701 recipes offered to Lord Krishna in Puri

Puri, Dec 15:  A special ritual on dishes has been performed by Gourabihar or Mata Mutt, Puri on Wednesday. On the occasion of ‘Byanjana Dwadashi’, the Mutt authorities have offered as many as 701 divine recipes to Lord Krishna, as a era-old tradition which were dedicated for the devotees after Bhog. The Byanjana Dwadashi in Shree Kshetra Puri is traditionally observed on the second day of the month of Margashira which is the peak time of agricultural yields including paddy, pulses and vegetable. On the occasion in the mythological era, Maa Jasoda was feeding delicious dishes to her son Shree Krishna. {"id":153889,"sizeSlug":"full","linkDestination":"none"} Keeping the tradition up, the Vaisnavs have been celebrating  the day offering delicious food to Lord Krishna, said a Mutt official. The mutt had dedicated at least 501 recipes last year whereas the items have reached 701 due to more public participation, this year, he added. In order to mark the occasion today, a group of professional cooks had prepared as many as 701  typical items using  at least 20 country kilns in order to cater the Odia, Bengali and South-Indian people. The items included,17 varieties of rice,18 varieties of puddings,51 number of curries,161 types of chutney, a number of sweets and many more. After the foods were offered before Krishna, they were given away among the Vaisnavs ,common people and poor.
