Sonepur tie and dye weavers weave specially designed scarves for the Olympians

Sonepur, Aug 13: The weavers of Sonepur, famous for Bandha Tie and dye textile are now burning the midnight oil to meet the deadline for felicitating the winning Olympians of the state. The state government has given them orders to deliver specially designed scarves with hockey logos to felicitate the victorious players. These traditional scarves will be offered on a magnificent occasion on August 16. Spectacularly, the scarves have been woven by the renowned weavers of Brahmanipali Sagaratala village in the aegis of master weaver Uttam Meher. A panel of tie and dye specialists have woven out their best and carved the Tokyo Olympic-2021 Mascot and hockey sticks on it with attractive knots and natural colors. ‘We have designed the scarves within three days and handed over it to the Managing Director of the Sambalpuri Bastralaya today’, said Uttam.
