Bhubaneswar, Jan 10: Prof. Subodha Mishra, a Professor of Physics at the Institute Of Technical Education and Research (ITER), passed away following a cardiac arrest here on Saturday. A thoughtful person of intellectual pursuits, Prof. Mishra (57) had two doctoral degrees in Physics, one from the University of Missouri-Columbia and the other from Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar. His research interests pertained to theoretical physics, especially in theoretical condensed matter physics and cosmology. His paper on special relativisation of the quantized theory of Newton-Cartan gravity as formulated by Joy Christian opened up a novel direction of research in quantum gravity. He published around 25 research articles in journals of international repute. His paper published in Physics Teacher has been added in undergraduate teaching syllabus of USA. A bachelor, he has three books to his credit. He also had a flair for Odia poetry. SOA Founder-President Prof. (Dr.) Manojranjan Nayak has deeply mourned the passing away of Prof. Mishra.
