Six rare horse shoe crabs recovered; man from West Bengal arrested

Baripada, 3/1: Six rare horse shoe crabs were recovered from the local haat (market). A man identified as Sunil Biswas from Burdwan in West Bengal was arrested while he was selling medicines showing these rare crabs with medicinal value. {"id":23047,"sizeSlug":"large"} These crabs are very valuable and are smuggled as medicine is produced from their blue blood for the treatment of cancer. While Sunil was caught selling herbal medicines showing this rare material, he told the Forest personnel that his another associate had gone to Rairangpur area with another six horse shoe crabs for selling medicines. The Forest officials initiated efforts to nab him. {"id":23048,"sizeSlug":"large"} Forest officials said that the rescued horse shoe crabs would be released in the sea. These crabs come under the category of rare marine animal species.
