Bhubaneswar, Aug 31: Ace Ollywood singer Sourin Bhatt has landed in soup on the charges of sexual harassment to a woman.
With the Orissa High Court rejecting singer Sourin Bhatt’s anticipatory bail plea in the harassment case, the Commissionerate Police has started the process to arrest him.
Cuttack Zone II ACP Amitabh Mohapatra said the singer would soon be arrested. Raids are underway to apprehend him, he added.
“The Orissa High Court has rejected Sourin Bhatt’s bail petition and vacated the interim protection it had granted. Now we will try to arrest him. After discussion with the DCP and getting information about his whereabouts, a team will leave to arrest him,” he said.
Worth mentioning, a woman banker from Cuttack on June 12 had accused the Ollywood singer of sexually harassing her and duping lakhs of rupees.
Anticipating arrest, Sourin had sought relief from the Orissa High Court and prayed for an anticipatory bail. The court had granted interim protection to the singer on August 1. However, the Court had also directed the playback singer to cooperate in the police investigation at every point.
Meanwhile, the police investigation revealed that Sourin had a relationship with the complainant for the last few years, which he had denied before the police during the statement record. At the same time, the sleuths had also found a number of bank transactions with the woman. Subsequently, a four-member team of Commissionerate Police visited Sourin’s house in Kolkata on June 22. However, the team had to return empty-handed as the singer was not found there.
