Shree Mandira Parikrama Project row: INTACH urges CM to stop construction work

14/05/2022 at 3:00 PM

Puri, May 14: The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) today sought the personal intervention of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to stop the construction work under the Shree Mandira Parikrama Project.

The organisation urged the Chief Minister to halt the construction work of the project till the Orissa High Court announces its final verdict in the case.

In a letter to the CM, INTACH wrote, “Since the High Court is hearing the case and if work is stopped in the interim period, it will make no difference to the execution of the project.”

“Several allegations and counters are flying thick surcharging the atmosphere while the common man, devotee of Lord Jagannath is totally confused, feeling hurt to no end,” the letter stated.

“So sir why not call a halt till the disposal of the case,” the organisation questioned.

Earlier on May 9, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in an affidavit stated to the High Court that the competent authority has not given valid permission or No-Objection Certificate (NOC) to the ongoing construction work of the Shree Mandira Parikrama Project which triggered a political blame game between the ruling BJD, BJP, and Congress.
