Bhubaneswar, Mar 5: A team of Department of Theatre Arts, University of Hyderabad will stage Hindi play ‘Shakuntala’ at 6.30 here at Rabindra Mandap. Eminent Odia artist Satyabrata Rout will direct the play in the last evening of Purva Ranga National Theatre Festival. Kalidas’s ‘Shakuntala’(Abhijnanasakuntalam) is one of the finest verses in the world literature, written around 4th century AD. The play, being a narrative love-song, illustrates the socio-political conditions of ancient India and portrays the duty of man for the society and poses questions on the identity of women in the male-dominated society irrespective of time and space.
