Bhubaneswar, Sep 12: Sex trade in newly constructed residential buildings in and on the outskirts of capital city of Odisha is on the rise post lockdown. Newly constructed residential houses in isolated areas on the outskirts of the city has turned into brothels as owners of the houses are staying out of the city and the Commissionerate Police is not strictly enforcing its law made in 2014-15 for house owners to submit details of their tenants to the police stations. Landlords stay outside the state and get monthly rent in their bank accounts and apparently higher amount than rent of the locality. And in apartments, neighbours hardly know what is happening the next door that helps the pimps. Modus operandi Most of the kingpins of sex rackets are husband-wife or live-in partners in Bhubaneswar, who easily avoid public suspicion as it is very common for families to have guests regularly. In many cases the pimps put up hoardings of some unknown companies at the gates so that they run the flesh trade easily during business hours between 10 am and 5 pm. Regular customers contact over phone and choice women through WhtasApp but for new customers the pimps provide escort facility. During a sting operation the News7 team busted many sex rackets operational in Bhubaneswar. Our team bargained with a couple who are operating sex racket at a luxurious house in OSCAR City of Laxmi Sagar area. The woman assured to provide a new girl at Rs 2000 after two days with an advance of Rs 100 and priced Rs 600 - 800 for the two girls present now. The couple -known as Nana and Bhauja - are operating the flesh trade bringing girls from various parts of the state on the pretext of providing them job in Bhubaneswar and later, luring them into prostitution. Here while the husband manages customers, the wife looks after the girls.
