Bhubaneswar, 17/12: Sex racket is rampant in the city under the very nose of the police despite surprise raids on the city hotels from time to time. The flesh trade is on not only at secluded places in dingy lanes and bylanes, but also in the crowded places in the heart of the city. One such racket was busted by the commissionerate police in Hotel Ashirvad located in the busy Station Bazar last night. The sex racket operators were resorting to a tricky method to avoid the eyes of the police. They were booking Room No 108, while flesh trade was going on in Room No 107. A well known sex racket dalal had been running the flesh trade in this hotel since long, engaging sex workers, especially from outside the state. The hotel owner and manager were allegedly associated with the ongoing flesh trade. Last night, the flesh trade was on in Room No 107 as usual. A client had spent some time with a Bengali young woman and had gone out. Then the hotel manager and another person forcibly attempted to have physical relation with her. However, the young woman came out of hotel out of fear and went to the nearby Laxmisagar police station to lodge a complaint. Acting on her complaint, police detained two persons. Laxmisagar police raided the hotel and seized objectionable materials, CCTV footage and hard disk from the hotel room. Police has prepared a long list of customers, basing on the CCTV footage and started investigation to know since how many days the sex trade has been going on in the hotel.
