Seven arrested for selling blood in Odisha hospital

Bhawanipatna, Feb 13: Dharmagarh police today arrested five middlemen and two lab technicians involved in sale of blood to patients at Dharmagarh Sub Divisional Hospital in Kalahandi district today. Police said that the accused were selling a unit of blood at a cost of Rs 1500 to patients undergoing treatment at the hospital. “An elderly man has lodged a formal police complaint with us in this connection. We have been trying to nab them for past few days. They were finally nabbed today after repeated attempts,’ said a police official. He also said that further investigation is continuing to ascertain involvement of others in the racket.
