Sensitization programme organized for workers, employers of Joda mining area

Keonjhar, March 13: As part of the ongoing iconic week of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the office of Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), Bhubaneshwar organized a sensitization and interaction programme for workers and employers located in Joda mining belt at Joda West Auditorium, Tata Steel Limited. Shakuntala Patnaik, Dy. Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) Bhubaneswar was the chief guest in the programme. In her speech, she highlighted the provisions under various welfare schemes and labour laws enacted by Government of India for the benefit of workers. The programme was also graced by P.K. Rana, RLC (Central) Bhubaneswar, S.K. Sethi, RLC (Central) Rourkela, Dr. S.K. Sethy, LEO (Central) Rourkela and Barbil, Saroj Kumar Banerjee, Chief (Joda) Tata Steel, G.V. Satyanarayana, Chief (Khondbond) Tata Steel, and Awanish Kumar, Chief (Manganese Mines), Tata Steel. The programme was facilitated by Mines Division of Tata Steel Ltd. Senior executives of various mining companies including SAIL, Tata Steel, OMC, Jindal Steel and Power, JSW Steel Ltd, Rungta Mines, Triveni Earth Movers etc. participated in the programme along with 250 workers including 124 female workers. The programme was also attended by Maheswar Rout, General Secretary, Keonjhar Mines and Forest workers Union, Indramani Behera, General Secretary, Keonjhar Mining workers Union, Ranjeet Kumar Das, General Secretary, Joda East Mazdoor Union, S.B Sandha, President, Khondbond Iron Mine Mazdoor Union, Rama Chandra Patra, General Secretary, Manganese Mines Workers Union. Around 60 employers and their representatives were present in the second session held for highlighting obligation of employers towards their workers. Dr. S.K. Sethy, LEO (Central) Rourkela gave a detailed presentation on the rights of workers and obligations of employers under various labour laws. Saroj Kumar Banerjee, Chief (Joda), Tata Steel gave the welcome speech and vote of thanks was given by G.V. Satyanarayan Chief (Khondbond) Tata Steel.
