Cuttack, Jan 16: Vigilance sleuths today arrested senior clerk working in the office of Nuagaon tehsil of Jagatsinghpur district on charges of demanding and accepting bribe. Vigilance sleuths said that the accused identified as Pranakrushna Nayak has demanded bribe of Rs 20,000 from a complainant to release his sand loaded tipper. Accordingly, a trap was laid on Sunday and the accused was caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance. “The bribe money was recovered from the possession of the accused. In this connection, a case has been registered and further investigation is continuing,” said an official. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the properties of Nayak at two places including his office. Nayak was also arrested earlier in 2016 for demanding and accepting bribe for issue of patta.
