Bhubaneswar, Oct 18: A security guard was left battling for life after some miscreants allegedly hacked him with a sword during loot bid near Puri bypass road in Bhubaneswar last night.
The victim, identified as Gouranga Das of Jajpur, sustained severe injuries in the attack and was admitted to the Capital Hospital here for treatment.
As per reports, Gouranga was on his duty at a vehicle showroom near Mangaraj point along Puri bypass road when three miscreants came and asked for some water. Later, they tried to rob the showroom when Das resisted them.
Thereafter, the miscreants attacked with a sword and fled from the spot fearing getting caught.
On getting the information, police arrived at the spot and rescued Gouranga from a blood. He was later rushed to Capital Hospital.
A probe has been launched into the matter and efforts are on to trace the assailants, said the cops.
