Bhubaneswar, Aug 31: Secretary of Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety, Sanjay Mittal paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena on Wednesday. Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur was also present during this visit.
Secretary, SCCORS, expressed his pleasure on the ongoing steps taken by the Government of Odisha on road safety activities. He expressed his pleasure on the measures taken by the Health Department, Transport Department and Police on road safety activities. He, however, expressed his displeasure for indifference attitude of NHAI. He requested the Chief Secretary for intervention in this regard.
Jena advised the Transport Commissioner for the training of engineers on road engineering from block level to urban bodies by an export team along with sensitization of auto drivers and control on the increase of autos catering Bhubaneswar. He also advised to conduct awareness in schools and colleges by experts particularly in PTM day and an annual conclave on road safety volunteers to encourage the people.
