SCB Medical College to be developed with an investment of Rs 3,500 crore

Bhubaneswar, Dec 31: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced renovation of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack with an investment of Rs 3,500 crore. The CM has also set January 1, 2024 as the date for inauguration of the health facility. As per the plan, the hospital which was set up in 1994 will undergo complete renovation in 175 acres of land. In the initial phase, the number of beds will be 3500 which will be subsequently increased to 5000. Besides as many as 1280 quarters will be constructed while facility will also be created to accommodate 2200 students. Earlier Patnaik had laid the foundation stone for the transformation of the institute into a world-class institute on March 5 this year on the occasion of 104th birth anniversary of former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik. He had also appointed a group of eminent doctors to advise on the transformation of the hospital into a world class institution, seven out of the team of 10 are Padma Awardees, four are SCB alumni.
