Bhubaneswar, Jan 29: Senior IPS officer Sanjeeb Panda on Monday assumed the charge of Police Commissioner for the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. The transition took place during a formal ceremony at the Commissionerate Police headquarters in Bhubaneswar, where he took over the responsibilities from the outgoing Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarshi.
Sanjeeb Panda, a 1994 IPS officer, has held various key positions within the Odisha Police, including serving as the Superintendent of Police in Puri and Rourkela, as well as the DIG in the South-Western range, Personnel IG, and IG OASAP. His career also includes roles as the ADG of the Crime Branch, Transport Commissioner, and the Director of Intelligence.
Upon assuming the position of Commissioner for the twin cities, Pansa told media, "Today, I have taken charge and anticipate the public's support for the police in carrying out their duties more effectively." Panda highlighted that his immediate challenge is overseeing the upcoming general elections scheduled for this year. Additionally, he emphasized his commitment to ensuring the proper implementation of the state government's 5T and Mo Sarkar initiatives. The new Commissioner of Police also prioritized tackling cybercrime as a key focus area.
