Bhubaneswar, Sept 7: Locomotion of trains on Baripada-Balasore line was disrupted on Thursday after a sal tree fell on the railway track.
Railway services were resumed after the tree trunk was removed and the electric-traction was restored after hours.
Sources said that, a big Sal tree fell down on the railway track all of a sudden near the Betanati Railway station in Mayurbhanj. As a result, the traction-line passing along the track was fully damaged with blocking at least two tracks. Following the incident, train movement on the route was stalled for hours. The Balasore-Baripada DMU was detained en-route while a few other trains were parked in the Manchabindha forest area, said sources.
Being informed, railway crew rushed to the spot and managed the situation after removing the blockade.
