Bhubaneswar, Jan 5: A gang of robbers has created panic at Jagannath Nagar under Sahid Nagar police limit in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. The gang has looted a huge cache of jewelry, cash, and other valuables in the broad daylight from house no 223/1523 at Jagannath Nagar, brutally assaulting the house owner Geetanjali Paltasingh. Police have rescued her from a pool of blood and was rushed to the Capital hospital for resuscitation. Sources said a well-weaponed gang of rubbers barged into Geetanjali Paltasingh’s house at about noon. Following this, they frightened her on gun points and forced her to deliver all ornaments, jewelry and cash. However, Geetanjali resisted the gang saying, she had nothing more valuables to give them. Aggrieved over it, the robbers hacked her with choppers and other sharp weapons and decamped with the valuables, that they had grabbed from the spot earlier. Being aware of the alarm of Geetanjali, co-residents informed police in this connection. PCR van ran to the spot and rescued Geetanjali from the spot. Now she is struggling with her life in the hospital since she has encountered as many as 300 stitches all over her body, said Director of the Capital hospital, Doctor Laxmidhar Sahu.
