Bhubaneswar, July 31: A Special Vigilance Court in Odisha’s Balasore on Wednesday convicted a retired Juniour Horticulture Officer and sentenced him to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) of two years for demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant.
Th accused has been identified as Brajendra Mishra of Nilagiri. Mishra was caught red-handed while accepting bribe from a complainant for releasing subsidy under the National Horticulture Mission (NHM) scheme.
According to sources, Mishra was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 PC Act,1988 for demanding illegal gratification from the beneficiary for releasing the subsidy.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Mishra following his conviction.
