New Delhi, May 23: The Resident Doctors Association (RDA) of VMMC and SJH hospital has strongly condemned the comments by Baba Ramdev on Allopathy and demanded appropriate actions against him under relevant sections of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1987 for hate speech. The association alleged that Ram Kishan Yadav aka Ram Dev Baba has openly criticized and insulted Allopathy using unparliamentary language. “His remarks are not only derogatory and demeaning but also disrespectful to science,” said a release by the association condemning the statement made by Ram Dev Baba. On one hand, the practitioners of allopathy are single handedly facing the brunt of the COVID-19 pandemic while on the other hand, this gentleman is spreading hate and misinformation against the medical sciences, claimed the association. Further, the association said, when a person with ample media coverage releases a statement, it has widespread impact which has the potential to incite hatred and mistrust against allopathy and its practitioners. Also, it will act to bring down the morale of innumerable healthcare workers on the frontline, many amongst whom have lost their lives in the line of national duty, it added. The association also demanded an unconditional public apology from Ram Dev Baba to Allopathy and its practitioners clarifying that allopathic practice is till date the most scientific practice of medicine as no therapy is instituted without concrete scientific evidence and rigorous clinical trials. Evidence based medicine is being practiced only by allopathy. Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan today wrote a letter to yoga guru Ramdev asking him to retract his objectionable statements against allopathy after the Indian Medical Association demanded action on Saturday.
