RD Women’s University student’s death: Prime suspect detained

Jajpur, Jan 28: In a major development into the investigation of the murder case of a student of RD Women’s University, the prime suspect has been detained by the police. Police said that the suspect identified as Rakesh Swain was picked up from his residence in Sundarpada area under Airfield police limits in Bhubaneswar. Sources said that the sequence of events leading to the crime will be disclosed by the police in a presser on Friday. The Kuakhia police in Jajpur district recovered the body of student near Mulapal on Wednesday. Some local residents had spotted the body lying along the Mulapal-Dialakhandi road and informed the Kuakhia police. The deceased identified as Jharaphula Nayak hailed from Marundeipasi village under Jashipur police limits in Mayurbhanj district and was a +3 second year student of the varsity. She had gone to Bhubaneswar on January 24 and attended classes next day. However, the circumstances under which she was brought to Jajpur is being probed by the police.
