Bhubaneswar, Aug 30: The average August rainfall in Odisha this year has been less than the normal. Like in June, the state has received comparatively less rainfall in August, revealed reports.
After the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD), even the Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC)'s office too has confirmed that the amount of rainfall in Odisha this August has been less than normal. Earlier,, the IMD stated that the deficit is more than 10% than average August rainfall in Odisha.
However, the latest news is there are chances of rain across Odisha on Thursday. The IMD forecast on Wednesday revealed that though Southwest Monsoon has been subdued of late in the state, but due to prevalent monsoon trough and cyclonic circulation, thunderstorms with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over 22 districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours.
The IMD predictions further stated that a fresh heavy rainfall spell is likely over Odisha-Chhattisgarh-north Andhra Pradesh, Telangana from Saturday and isolated heavy rainfall activity is expected to continue over Andaman-Nicobar islands and extreme south Peninsular India during next 3-4 days.
